Opening event: 18 Aug 2017, 7pm-9:30pm with live music, performance, home-brew & Tyree Gin Exhibition runs: 19 - 26 August, 10am-5:30pm place+platform host Reject, Respond, Repurpose; a group exhibition and event responding to abandoned thrift shop art in Leith Walk’s renowned bric-a-brac shop, The Settlement Projects. Over time, a large collection of discarded art works has accumulated in the basement of the shop. Over time, a large collection of discarded art works has accumulated in the basement of the shop. Who did they belong to? Why are they there? Why have they been rejected? Invited artists will respond to and re-purpose this collection, making new art works in the process. Expect an eclectic mix of painting, sculpture, photography and performance. Featuring artwork by: Seamus Killick, Edward Summerton, Michael Kay Terence, Rowan Paton, Brian Cheeswright, Julia Barbour, Jake Russell, Molly Kent, Emma Macleod, Harry Maberly, Abi Lewis, Luke Thomas Edwards, Emma Drye, Sam Wood and Krish Krush. Access Info: The exhibition will be over two floors. The first floor is wheelchair accessible. The second basement floor is accessed via a set of stairs. There is no lift. The shop and events can get quite busy and can be a tight squeeze. During events, people hang out on the street as well as in the shop.
